It’s official. David Arquette seems to be over his ex-wife, the ultimate cougar Courteney Cox, and is now engaged. The actor proposed to his girlfriend Christina McLarty in Malibu on July 2, Arquette’s rep confirms to “US Weekly.”

Interestingly enough, the news comes just several days after Courteney announced her engagement to “Snow Patrol” rocker, Johnny McDaid, on June 26.

David, 42, made it a family event. Arquette popped the question to the entertainment reporter, 33, during the family dinner with their 2-month-old son, Charlie West, and Arquette and Cox’s 10-year-old daughter, Coco, at “Mastro’s” steakhouse in Malibu.

David appears to have been planning it for a while now.

An inside told US Weekly that he has “known he wanted to marry Christina for a long time” but has been waiting for a perfect moment.

And what is more perfect a proposal than being surrounded by your precious family.

But is this timing somehow connected to Cox’s engagement?

Another source revealed the former couple has talked about the whole situation. “David was just waiting for the right time. He and Courteney both talked about taking the next step in their relationships… They both want what’s best for each other.”

Pretty mature thinking coming from both sides.

David and Courteney split up in 2010, after 11 years of marriage, while he and McLarty have been in an on-again off-again relationship since 2011 and briefly splitting in 2012.
