The falling out and consequent drama between R&B star Robin Thicke and his estranged wife, Paula Patton, has been one for the ages. While Patton has stood tall in her dismissal of their romance and relationship, Thicke has come on stronger than ever in trying to win the woman back. His most recent attempt has come in the form of a love song. There aren’t many women on the planet that would be able to withstand a personal song from Robin Thicke, so will Patton become one of the rare ones that can?

Robin recently won the Best R&B Single award and took the opportunity to pass love on to his estranged wife. He said that he wanted to thank her for her “love and support” and for how she “put up with” him for all the years of their marriage. This was a strong attempt to curry some favor, especially with how easy it could backfire by a public condemnation from Paula.

Robin later returned to the stage to trot out his newest single which was, aptly, titled “Get Her Back”. Before beginning the track, Robin asked the crowd to help him get her back. As he sang the song, the musician was visibly upset. His eyes were watery as he hit the chorus and before the track was done he was on his knees singing the lyrics. The track closed with “I miss you so much, I just want you to come back home.”

Robin and Paula have been married for almost ten years and have been together romantically since they were teenagers. Robin is fighting hard to restart their relationship while Paula is lukewarm on the idea of leaving or staying. Patton has been relatively quiet about the breakup, especially in comparison to Thicke’s very public attempts to win her back, saying only that they share a “deep love” and “always will”.
