While you can debate the merits of a television show like ‘Glee’, you can’t argue how influential it has been on audiences all over the planet. The singing-sensation program was quick to dominate television ratings while making stars out of most of its young cast. One of those bright stars, a young Cory Monteith, was sadly cut short when he passed away from an overdose in July of 2013. Monteith’s birthday was May 11th, and he would have been 32. In memory of her deceased ex-boyfriend, ‘Glee’ star Lea Michele posted a rather loving tribute to her Twitter account.

The image, posted to Lea Michelle’s personal account, shows Corey and Michelle laughing together. The photo is black and white and captioned with “The biggest heart and most beautiful smile.. In all of our hearts.. We love you so.” and culminated in a heartfelt happy birthday. Fans of the ‘Glee’ stars were quick to make the Tweet go viral.

Lee took Cory’s tragic passing especially hard a year ago, but has managed to keep on working. She has never missed an opportunity to give Cory a mention when the time was right. Another image, posted by Michelle when the 100th episode of ‘Glee’ had aired, showed Cory and herself underneath a huge ‘Glee’ billboard. The image was captioned “Billboard 2009”.

The passing of Cory Monteith serves as a hard reminder for many young Hollywood actors. Monteith seemingly had the world in the palm of his hand, yet he could not break his destructive habits for long enough to enjoy it. Monteith had discussed his issues with substance abuse in 2011 and even sought treatment in March of 2013, just four months before his passing. The former star died alone in a hotel room in Vancouver from a lethal mixture of heroin and alcohol.
