It seems as if the beautiful marriage between Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones and their family, still has a heartbeat. Douglas, charming and handsome as ever at 69, and Zeta- Jones, graceful and distinctly elegant as ever at 44, were inseparable as they walked a New York red carpet. The Hollywood veterans melted hearts as they appeared together for the opening of a new play by critically acclaimed director Stephen Soderbergh. Both actors have worked with the director in the past. On stage now at The Public Theater in New York, his play The Library is Soderbergh’s latest project. After a 13 year marriage and raising two children together, the future of their relationship has been uncertain.

Both struggled to overcome illness in the recent past. Douglas battled cancer and Zeta-Jones wrestled with a bipolar disorder. Both publicly announced their own desire to spend time apart while focusing on self. Zeta-Jones seemed to make a clear statement the two Hollywood legends were still devoted to their marriage as she showed off her wedding ring to the press and fans. Speaking about their split last October with Jay Leno on the Tonight Show, Douglas had underscored his commitment to Zeta-Jones after their split was announced by insisting time apart did not spell the end of marriage.

At the time, Douglas appeared hopeful. In January, Douglas attended the Golden Globes alone. Dateless, Douglas won a Golden Globe that night for his role as Liberace in a biography of the entertainer by HBO. Could this be the end of Douglas’ bachelor appearances? Are Zeta-Jone and Douglas rekindling their 13 year marriage? Time will tell, but all signs point to yes as this romance seems to have reawakened without any formal announcement. With two children, ages 13 and 10, plus more than a decade of romance between them, the possibility of newfound love between them made hearts flutter Tuesday.
