It was a bit of a surprise that Ethan Hawke would cheat on a beauty like Uma Thurman with the nanny, but so it goes and he’s hardly the only celebrity to go this route (we’re looking at you Jude Law).

However, Hawke actually went on to marry the nanny. Their relationship appears to be an open one.

They have two kids together and, of course, a sordid past, but reports have surfaced that Hawke, again, just can’t seem be that one-woman man.

Hawke has basically stated that sexual fidelity is “childish.” Sure, many an upstanding husband who has remained committed to his bride for decades (they exist) might say that marrying with the intention to play the field is childish–and also expensive.

Hollywood divorces aren’t cheap. One has to wonder why celebrities marry. Why not just partner up and avoid the legal fees?

Open marriages do seem to crash and burn in many cases, but then–so do traditional marriages. In the end, it’s about what two consenting adults are willing to consent to. We’ll have to wait to see if Shawhughes thinks fidelity is childish too. Somehow we can’t help feeling that Hawke better start saving his pennies. Divorce court is calling.
