If you are a fan of Selena Gomez you probably know that the pop star spent the bulk of 2016 under the radar and kept away from high profile public events due to her lupus-related side effects after her “Revival” world tour.

Back in August she explained that she needed some time off to focus on herself and to try to deal with her newfound illness.

“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” Selena revealed to People. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”

“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support.”

Although her fans were quite supportive, they didn’t take the news with ease. But it now seems the star is finally finding the way to put this whole lupus thing behind her.

I Was Absolutely Broken Inside

Namely, Selena decided to show up for the 2016 American Music Awards during which she won one of the biggest awards of the evening, but the focus was definitely on her moving speech rather than on the award itself.

After a long break, the singer took the opportunity to address her fans:

“I think it’s safe to say most of you know my life whether I liked it or not. And I had to stop. Because I had everything. And I was absolutely broken inside,” Selena said.

“I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down. If you are broken, you do not have to stay broken. That’s one thing you should know about me: I care about people. And this is for you.”

Does this mean Selena will make a complete public comeback soon? Stay tuned!
