Although Lady Gaga is known for being the living, breathing, and walking embodiment of drama, she’s yet to bring us to tears – until last night at the Oscars, of course.

The famous singer took the stage on Sunday night during the prestigious event in order to perform her hit song “Til It Happens to You,” which is already pretty tear-jerking as it is.

To add weight to the performance, Gaga was accompanied by real-life survivors of sexual abuse on stage.

The people who stood on the stage had words like “Not your fault” written on their arms, which only made the whole event even more touching. But the real heartbreak ensued later, as Lady Gaga posted a photo of herself and her fiancé Taylor Kinney on Instagram.

The snap was titled: “I never thought anyone would ever love me because I felt like my body was ruined by my abuser. But he loves the survivor in me. He’s stood by me all night proud and unashamedly. THAT’S a real man.

The real emotion of this whole story comes from the fact that Lady Gaga is a sexual assault survivor herself. That being said, this only proves the theory that people are unaware of an issue until it happens to them or someone they know. Think about that.
