Young “Modern Family” star, Sarah Hyland, finally breaks silence and opens up for the first time about the reports that her ex-boyfriend, also an actor, Matt Prokop was abusive towards her.

Last month the news that Sarah had been granted a temporary restraining order against Matt surfaced, and the reports also state that the actress claimed he had physically assaulted her and threatened her life.

It Takes One To Know One

Sarah opened up to Meredith Vieira during a candid interview a few days ago.

Meredith herself was a victim of abuse when she was younger, and Sarah spoke about the way she had coped with this difficult experience.

“There are two quotes that I want to say. One is a Dylan Thomas poem – ‘Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light’, which is one of my favorite poems. It just strikes a chord with me,” the 23-years-old actress said.

Sarah also cited Robert Frost’s quote “The only way out is through. People have to go through things in order to become the person they are today, and that’s that.”

The Restraining Order

Matt got a three-year restraining order on October 8, and now he must stay 100 yards away from her, her house and her dog, and her workplace.

The former couple met while auditioning for “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” back in 2008.
