But it seems that the actor doesn’t agree with her ways, since he was seen with his gold wedding band still in place, four days later.
What may be even sadder is the fact that he spoke about some issues in an interview that was conducted just hours before the news of the split broke.
The 49-year-old actor said he has been spread thin lately and needed more balance in his life: “It would be nice to be one-pointed and not spread so thin sometimes. I think where I’m going is to really streamline and be much more specific in balancing things a little bit better than I have in the past. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have Grey’s Anatomy run as long as it has. It’s been a tremendous gift, and it’s allowed all of this to happen. That’s been taking up a lot of time, and of course, you have a life off the track and your family and trying to balance that out and make that work and then focusing on the racing.”
Jillian Fink cited irreconcilable differences in her divorce documents. She is asking for spousal support and joint custody of their three kids, 13-year-old Tallulah Fyfe and 8-year-old twins Sullivan Patrick and Darby Galen. She is also asking that Dempsey pay her attorney fees for Laura Wasser. Dempsey and Fink did not sign a prenuptial agreement before marrying.
The Valentine’s Day actor and his soon to be ex wife announced that they are splitting up after 15 years of marriage while he was taking part in the Friday race in Daytona.
In a joint announcement, the former couple said: “It is with careful consideration and mutual respect that we have decided to end our marriage. Our primary concern remains the well being of our children, and we ask with profound gratitude that you respect our family’s privacy at this very sensitive time.”
The beautiful former couple wed on July 31, 1999. Dempsey was previously married to actress and acting coach Rochelle Parker, from 1987 until 1994. The Grey’s Anatomy star met Jillian in a hair salon, the same year he divorced his first wife.
Dempsey has played Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy since 2005. Shonda Rhimes, the show’s creator, revealed that we won’t see his character for a while. Dempsey’s character is having marital problems with Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo): “There will be a time when you see him again, yes, but it’s probable that you won’t see Derek for a while.”
