Professional hacker from Chicago named Edward Majerczyk, age 29, has been sentenced to nine months in prison after hacking into private accounts and stealing information, nudes and videos from over 30 celebrities including Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Amber Heard, Cara Delevigne

Majerczyk also has to pay $5,700 towards the counselling costs for one unnamed celebrity whose personal photos were leaked online.

More Than 300 Email And Online Accounts

The hacker managed to obtain access to over 300 email and online accounts via a phishing scheme in which celebrity and non-celebrity victims were tricked into entering their usernames and passwords after receiving emails that appeared to come from their internet service provider.

Majerczyk confessed and pleaded guilty at a Los Angeles court last year.

His attorney had this to say: “He was suffering from depression and looked to pornography websites and internet chat rooms in an attempt to fill some of the voids and disappointment he was feeling in his life.”

Sex Crime

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Jennifer Lawrence referred to the event as a “sex crime” and “an invasion of privacy”.

“Just because I’m a public figure, just because I’m an actress, does not mean that I asked for this,” said Jennifer.

“It does not mean that it comes with the territory. It’s my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting. I can’t believe that we even live in that kind of world. It’s an invasion of my privacy and it’s not OK. It’s illegal.”
