Newly engaged Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney took a freezing Polar Plunge in Chicago on Mar 1 to raise funds for Special Olympics.

The lovebirds made a surprise appearance among 4,500 other participants who ran into the freezing Lake Michigan as part of a fundraiser to support the Special Olympics.

Lady Gaga was photographed sporting a black Chicago Fire shirt and leggings while Kinney opted to go shirtless as no amount of clothes would help fight the ice water temperatures anyway.

The singer later tried to bring her experience closer to her fans: “My weave froze!! Taylor gave me his hat I thought my wig was gonna freeze into and become one with the lake.”

Gaga shared a photo from the event on Instagram, adding a comment about their joint endeavour: “Feels so good to do things for a good cause like the Special Olympics. It’s great to donate money, but also great to donate a gesture of love for those who deserve to be showered with it.”

Vince Vaughn, an Illinois native, also participated in the event, later describing emerging out of the icy water as “fantastic”.

The Polar Plunge raised more than $1 million dollars this year.
